Richard Landes muses over the point at which evidence contrary to our decided worldview ceases to be processed, and relates it to the image of Muhammed al-Dura, along with a hateful "poem" published a few years back in inSpire, the alumnae magazine of the Princeton Theological Seminary. An important post: Al Durah and the Palestinian Narrative

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.
2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.
3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...
4) I welcome you to post here. I'd love to have your input, agree, disagree or just offer a different data point, really. If I didn't want any participation, I'd turn off comments. It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."
5) Enjoy your stay!

I would point out the obvious. PTS is a Presbyterian affiliated school. It was the home of Ronald Stone -- who made the loving comments about Hezbollah in 2004. He was, in fact, a professor of Christian ethics, and a member of the PC(USA)'s ACSWP which engineered the Presbyterian anti-Israel policy. I honestly don't want to think how many people have been influenced by the hateful ethic that he teaches.
I was unaware of this particular poem, but it fits in with a long history of anti-Jewish diatribi from Presbyterian affiliated groups.
But hasn't it been demonstrated that the Israeli soldiers could not have possibly killed the boy? Even if the image was very effective a few years ago, it has been discredited now, even in Europe (well, in Germany, anyway)
This is a very crude and cynical use of propaganda.
I printed it out and read it in the car on the way to the Mother's Day brunch today. (Obviously I wasn't driving)...
Richard writes well in story or book form.
It is proven that the Israelis could not have shot him but unfortunately over the soldiers and officer's objections that day the Army initially issued an apology. This was back in the days when Oslo was in its last throes and the Israelis delusions to some extent were still there. Richard points this out in the article.
Further, Richard points out that the image is burned forever, as a religious like cult symbol in the Arab Islamic mind's image of the Intifadah.
I know a few years ago Al Jazeera would open its main news show with a 1 minute montage of images before the news began with a song etc... and 2 of the images were the Israeli lady dancing with the Flag in 1948 and the image of Al Durrah hiding behind his father etc...
I'm baffled why the Israelis don't find someone to locate the boy and put him in TV... that would be an arrow through the heart of the Arab lie propoganda... I think he's still alive myself.
