Another Israel event, another protest. This one was, according to the Solomonia operative present, characteristically small, but uncharacteristically quiet.
The Israeli Consulate sponsored its annual Jerusalem Day Celebration at the Boston Public Library yesterday. This is the same event at which Green-Rainbow Party activist David Rolde and his compadre Peter Lowney were arrested last year. The usual call went out for sloganeers, but things were quiet this time...maybe, too quiet... According to someone who was there:
There was one counter-protester with a small sign made right there...
Well, there's not a big story to tell here, but everyone enjoys some protester pics, so here they are:

Yup. For the non-Somervilleans here, be assured that they look even more deranged in real life than they do here. That's actually a remarkably flattering photo of the PROTEST ZIONISTS RACIST MURDERERS guy, unless he's lost a lot of weight since I last kicked him off my front steps.

Just to fill in a gap, I was the lone counter-protester at the BPL. I had my little sign which said, End the Occupation - Arabs Out.
I think I surprised the goons, and for a while they huddled where I believe they were strategizing about what to do about me. They then teased me about the size of my sign, as if I had sign envy! They were very proud that their signs were larger than mine. Then, one of them started spewing his slogans about six inches from my face. It was actually quite humorous.
Several passersby did give me the thumbs up sign.
It did teach me that these idiots can be beat. Perhaps it was a small victory :-)

I do wish there were more counter protestors (anti-Islamofascist, anti-socialist) there.
