Probe into Islamic school ordered

Schools minister Jim Knight has ordered an inquiry into an Islamic school accused of promoting religious intolerance.

He wants officials to look into the King Fahad Academy which uses books that brand other faiths as worthless.

An ex-teacher at the London school says parts of the books describe Jews as "repugnant" and Christians as "pigs".

The school denies teaching pupils from these texts, but says the passages will be removed from the books in question...

Here's video of the director of the academy squirming under questioning about the books in question:

Good job to the BBC on this, although I'm sorry to see it's a Jewish MP that they set up as the counter-point.

Here's part 1 of the video with more background and more of what's in the books in question. The other aspect here is that these are, in fact, Saudi texts, used in the KSA:

And there's more. Here's a follow-up report posted at LGF:

Now - put this into the context of what's happening in Jerusalem, because of an utterly harmless reconstruction project.

I don't see how, unless the issue of religious tolerance is addressed - and I mean REAL RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE - wherein people are thought of as EQUALS and treated accordingly - there can be any kind of peace in the Middle East or indeed, throughout the world.

We struggled mightily with this issue in the West. America was founded by people fleeing religious persecution. Millions of people died in Europe because of it, there are ongoing massacres in Africa and terrorism that is killing people - Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews and everybody else - because of religious intolerance, radicalism and fear.

Why isn't the UN working to combat this? I think it must be a primary focus now, before the world explodes.

What's not mentioned is that this disgruntled teacher had been perfectly happy working in the school, and using its curriculum, until the day he left. This does not mean that what he is saying is wrong, but it's sad that he really has other motivations. Now, if he got fired because he'd been trying to fight the racist content, that would've been something else. It seems that he's just using this to get revenge. At least his actions will achieve some good.
