I'm jealous. Miss Kelly attended Ayaan Hirsi Ali's talk at Harvard this afternoon and has a report (and an autographed book). Questioners were hostile (and clueless, apparently).
I was going to drive to Boston today for the day and see her speak. But then I found out the later even was only open to Harvard students. I called the Tsai Auditorium and they didn't even have any knowledge of her speaking there.
Then I look on lgf today and find out she spoke earlier in the afternoon at a different event that was open to the public.
And Misskelly notes that it was a detailed speech with a long and hot Q&A session.
Would have relished standing up and asking a funny question.
Did you know about the first event?
Mike
No video is available for that event either. Emailed the event host.
I´ve uploaded a video of Hirsi Ali. It´s from August 2005, but it´s worth watching.
In the following video she talks about integration (note the difference between muslim integration and integration of islam), the movie "Submission" which lead to the savage killing of its director Theo van Gogh and how she still feels guilty about it.
Radical islam is a danger for the whole world and according to Hirsi Ali, it´s about time calling the problems by their name.
"Syme: It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words. You wouldn't have seen the [Newspeak] Dictionary 10th edition, would you Smith? It's that thick. [illustrates thickness with fingers] The 11th Edition will be that [narrows fingers] thick. Winston Smith: So, The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect? Syme: The secret is to move from translation, to direct thought, to automatic response. No need for self-discipline. Language coming from here [the larynx], not from here

Several people sent me links to it, and I think Charles posted about it.
