This sounds like a pretty cool event. If I were in the D.C. area at the end of April I'd definitely attend.

America’s Truth Forum is hosting a symposium titled:

The Underlying Roots of Terrorism: Terrorism’s Threat to World Peace and National Security

This day-long event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 29th, 2006 in the Greater Washington DC Area. Tickets at $119.00 per person (lunch included). Ticketing must be done in advance due to security protocol.

Featured speakers include:

Dr. Andrew Bostom, David Horowitz, Dr. Harvey Kushner, Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, Dr. Paul Williams, Brigitte Gabriel, Joseph Kaufman, Laura Mansfield, Whalid Shoebat, Dr. Bruce Tefft, And more…

Topics to be discussed:

  • The mindset of Islamic terrorism from a reformed PLO terrorist
  • Al Qaeda’s plans for future attacks against Americans on US soil including an “American Hiroshima”
  • “Dhimmitude” and the uniquely Islamic institution of jihad
  • Terrorist recruitment in the United States
  • A detailed look at the charges and trial of Florida Prof. and terror suspect Sami al Arian
  • An in-depth look at ties between the radical left and the enemies of the state.
  • Understanding the threat posed
  • Effective counter-terrorism
  • The threat posed to world peace and national security by the ideology of radical Islam
  • The West’s misidentification of the challenges faced from the global jihad
  • A critique of the government’s performance on its prosecution of the War on Terror
  • A first hand account of a slaughter committed against innocents.
  • Terrorist indoctrination on the campuses of US Universities

VIP Pre-Symposium Reception

In addition, America’s Truth Forum is hosting a pre-symposium VIP reception scheduled for Friday evening, April 28th, 2006. Those in attendance will be provided with a unique opportunity to personally interact with our speakers and other "prominent" guests including former CIA Director James Woolsey and author of Losing bin Laden, Shadow War and Disinformation: 22 Media Myths That Undermine the War on Terror, Richard Miniter. Tickets for the VIP Pre-Symposium Reception are $100 per person. Reservations need to be made in advance due to security protocol.

"The Underlying Roots of Terrorism" is, to state the obvious, no small and no readily grasped set of topics. Cataloging facts and quantities is obviously not the same thing as assessing motives and causations, especially so when the stakes are so high and assessments, once acted upon and instituted as policy directives, can themselves be so consequential. Yet such qualitative assessments need to be made, obviously enough.

All this is in fact obvious; ironically, that's why it's worth some repeated emphasis. Hollywood, the MSM and various cultural elites in general, no doubt out of a variety of motives and interests, too often manage to elide and neglect the obvious, and reward and applaud themselves for doing so.

Comment Info and Policy:

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.

2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.

3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...

4) I welcome you to post here. I'd love to have your input, agree, disagree or just offer a different data point, really. If I didn't want any participation, I'd turn off comments. Be aware, however, that this blog and the comments section exist for my entertainment. Therefore, I reserve ALL RIGHTS here, including the right to remove any or all comments on nothing more than a whim. Please don't even bother complaining. I'm the one providing the space and the free news and thought buffet. I don't owe anyone anything.

Anyone who posts here will be treated as my guest. That means I'm happy to be polite as a default, but if anyone is rude to the host they'll be unceremoniously shown the door.

It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."

5) Enjoy your stay!
