An update on the post below regarding the widespread coupling of the story of a suicide bombing in Israel with photos of the grief of the bomber's family, Wrong Picture.

To her credit, The Washington Post's new ombudsman agrees with the criticism:

I got a number of phone calls and letters from readers distressed over The Post's use Thursday of a small picture of the grieving mother of the suicide bomber who killed at least five people and himself in Hadera, Israel. They were incensed that the Post would highlight her grief and not the sorrow of those who lost loved ones in the bombing. The paper's Middle East coverage often draws criticism, most of which I don't agree with, but in this case I side with the readers. And so does Downie.

It was good of her to acknowledge the wrong that was done.

OK, then how the F did this obvious travesty get into the paper in the first place?

Which author, copy and/or picture editors all put this in and then approved it in the first place.

You don't have to a friggin rocket scientist to realize what a travesty this is to begin with.

So she acknowledged the friggin obvious, and what is she going to do about it? NADA....

great link. thanks, mal
