Hard to excerpt. Just read it all. Mead articulates what many of us understand implicitly and why, and why the most anti-Israel Jews are generally the most politically marginal. I was sent a link this morning to another leftist "AsaJew" running for office in New York. I knew even before checking that the guy's poll numbers render him an unserious candidate, and sure enough, when I did check, he was. Mead, in a somewhat indirect way, explains why. Anti-Israel attitudes on the part of Jews don't endear them to the political mainstream, they separate them from it (in America anyway).
Definitely. It's startling to watch Mead point out the obvious over and over.
Such people are are cranks motivated by hate (while preaching "progress") and conspire in dark corners (while accusing others of the same). They don't fit into America's open politics.
Israel's friends made the right decision many decades ago when the chose open politics and influence through Congress and abandoned the court Jew-palace intrigue approach that failed so disastrously during the Holocaust.
Unfortunately, Soros, JStreet, and the like keep trying to revive this discredited approach, weirdly portraying it as "progressive" - huh?
