Not bad, not bad:

The back story: 'Eight Days of Hanukkah' - How Orrin Hatch came to write a Hanukkah song for Tablet Magazine

[h/t: Sara]

I remember seeing Orrin Hatch speak at a Jewish event honoring him years ago. This was very shortly after Ross Perot got in trouble (unfairly) for saying "You people" in front of an African American audience. I think Hatch knew exactly what he was playing on when at one point in his address he rather cutely said, "I love you people." It went over a lot better for Hatch than it had for Perot.

Adorable! And never did I think I would say this about Orrin
Hatch. Although his talk at Ted Kennedy's funeral was
rather touching---his uptightness among the other, more comfortably expressive speakers being rather endearing--
he did vote very soon after the funeral against Ted Kennedy's
most cherished and clearly humane legislation, that both
parties should have supported many years ago--and at least
now. Anyway, bravo to Senator Hatch for writing this charming
song. His love of music and singing in particular suggests that a tender heart is hidden underneath the public persona. Happy
Chanukah, Senator Hatch!
