This is video of the event I attended last Wednesday evening with Prof. Barry Rubin, Director of the Global Research for International Affairs (GLORIA) Center; editor of the Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA) Journal.

If you've been reading what Rubin has been writing, you know how indispensable he is, and his oral presentation is just as good as his written. I love a guy who can get up on stage and speak without notes, and that's what he does here. Audio quality should be passable. Part 1 is the main presentation, Part 2 the Q & A. You won't be able to hear most of the questions, but the answers should also be passable.

Rubin has a realist's view of events and antidotes where the word "realist" actually means something. This is well worth it.

Part 1:

Part 2 (Q&A):

They are headed for dissaster in Western Countries and espeically Europe as well.

wrong mr.
the palestenian authority didnt sponcer anything. the palestenian authority tried to delau the un setion to discuss the goldenstian report. it wanted to delay not because of a video showing mahmoud abbas urging the distruction of hamas(which they wanted but its impoosibale they will speack about it) but they wanted to delay it as a gesture to israle and the to obama.

but what precialed in the end....suprisingly public opinion! public pressure on PA........and public pressure on turkey not to cooperate militerally with the IOFTDLFTH(israel offence force that didnt learn from the holocaust)........its democracy at the work! know i love democracy in the middle east.

know a good title: how democracy in the middle esst will head for disaster for israel. actually.....anything in the middle east is a disastur for israel...thats better.

i will continue watching the clip i am sure that i will learn many things other than real politics(sayings and examples )

by the way where is the video showing mahmoud abbas urging israelian authorities to destroy hamas?!

israel doesnt reieve gestures israel call m.abbas and terorize him by a video.

but when he asks for the goldenstone report to be discuused, the irony that nobody expected........
then the video becomes another hoax by the people that dont recive gestures.....(except american militery aid)

Arabian: You can't even be bothered getting the name of Justice Goldstone correctly and it's right there, in front of your eyes. So, what value is there to anything else you claim by way of facts and records, which you provide from your memory which is not even capable of getting one name accurately?

First of all mrs.noga goldestone name was not mentioned in the artical.
second my facts are right in this issue.

in minute 3 of this video mr.rubin said that the PA is sponciring the discussion of the goldestone report. while the reality is that the PA lead by mahmoud abbas tried to postpone the disccusiion of the report(and in effect diluting the issue with time), but because of public pressure he went back and sponcered the report.

so abbas tried to make a gesture to isreal and obama , because worldwide media and obama and goerge mitchelle say that arabs should make gestures toward israel so that the peace procces gets life. abbas tried to pull israel out of the trouble they are in because of the report.

but what he recieved in the end is: if you postpone the session of discussing the report then you did it because of a video that we taped you in..(clinton and the fat ugly clumbsy lady in the white house,,,remeber).....and if you sponcer the disccuision than you are unworthy of bieng a peace partner.
steal land .....barbarism.....no body lived in palestian...humen shild....global jihad.....you know this way of thinking?!

i hope the issue of mahmoud abbas postponing the report becomes a casestudy of why hamas and hizboulaah dont make gestures toward israel.

the best thing about madoof is that he steals money while abiding by law.....but in the end he lost everything. although the whole time he acted as a straightforward person.

Arabian,

The problem with Hamas, Hezbollah, et.al, not making gestures to Israel is simple - their threats and violence against Israel result in wars, which result in more dead people, more injured and bereaved people, and it puts of a real peace settlement forever.

I think we need to go further than just "making gestures". We need to realize that violence isn't the right way to resolve disputes.

The issues of "human shields" and so forth wouldn't arise if rockets weren't being fired at civilians from within a civilian population.

But they are, not only by Hamas but by Hezbollah, and inevitably this results in a counterattack that hurts the innocent regardless of best efforts to avoid doing so.

The answer therefore is simple: stop attacking Israel and make an honest, peaceful attempt to understand the people who live there, understand they are human beings who don't want to hurt anybody, merely to life their lives in peace, and peace for everybody will be the result.

Keep launching attacks, keep inciting violence, keep thinking only bad things about the Israeli people, keep swallowing propaganda wholesale - and the result will be more war.

Does this make sense?
