For the record, JTA reports that earlier reports of the Chabad victims being tortured before being murdered were not correct:

The Jewish victims from the Mumbai Chabad House siege showed no indications of torture, a Mumbai doctor said.

Dr. Ganjanan Chawan saw the bodies when they arrived at JJ Hospital in Mumbai.

His statements in Wednesday's edition of the Jerusalem Post contradicted an interview with a morgue employee of the hospital printed the previous day by the newspaper. The morgue employee had said the Jewish victims had more injuries than the other victims in last week's terrorist attacks on the Indian city. More than 180 people were killed...

"Now, though, the New York Times reports that torture did apparently take place:

Gruesome new evidence also emerged Thursday suggesting that some of the six people killed at the Jewish center in Mumbai had been treated savagely. Some of the bodies appeared to have strangulation marks and wounds on their bodies did not come from gunshots or grenades, the police said."

That Z-Word post is good. Thanks.

Any way you slice it the story is just tragic.

Figures the JTA would rush to minimize the terrorists' barbarity.

The article in Rediffusion specifically quotes a doctor as saying the Jews were tied up and tortured....not 'a morgue employee'.

As if seeing one's young pregnant wife abused and shot down in front of you doesn't constitute torture?(HY"D)

There's also evidence that even the baby, Moishele was beaten. Israeli doctors found marks on his back and legs 'consistent with abuse.'

This strikes me as a dishonest attempt to calm the waters, which is frankly stupid. When you're dealing with this sort of thing and these kind of people, it's far better to look it in the face.

The Qu'ran considers Jews non-human, and a significant portion of Muslims agree with that, or at least are unwilling to confront their fellow Muslims who act on it.

It's time we assimilated that knowledge and dealt with it.

3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...

It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."

5) Enjoy your stay!

"Islam is not merely a personal religion but also the basis of a political community. If non-Muslims were entitled to the same rights as the faithful, then belief in God's final and perfect message as revealed in the Quran through his prophet Muhammad would be irrelevant, and the basis of the community would cease to exist."
