Andrew McCarthy at National Review:

Let's try a thought experiment. Say John McCain attended a party at which known racists and terror mongers were in attendance. Say testimonials were given, including a glowing one by McCain for the benefit of the guest of honor ... who happened to be a top apologist for terrorists. Say McCain not only gave a speech but stood by, in tacit approval and solidarity, while other racists and terror mongers gave speeches that reeked of hatred for an American ally and rationalizations of terror attacks.

Now let's say the Los Angeles Times obtained a videotape of the party.

Question: Is there any chance -- any chance -- the Times would not release the tape and publish front-page story after story about the gory details, with the usual accompanying chorus of sanctimony from the oped commentariat? Is there any chance, if the Times was the least bit reluctant about publishing (remember, we're pretending here), that the rest of the mainstream media (y'know, the guys who drove Trent Lott out of his leadership position over a birthday-party toast) would not be screaming for the release of the tape?

Do we really have to ask?

So now, let's leave thought experiments and return to reality: Why is the Los Angeles Times sitting on a videotape of the 2003 farewell bash in Chicago at which Barack Obama lavished praise on the guest of honor, Rashid Khalidi -- former mouthpiece for master terrorist Yasser Arafat?...

...The party featured encomiums by many of Khalidi's allies, colleagues, and friends, including Barack Obama, then an Illinois state senator, and Bill Ayers, the terrorist turned education professor. It was sponsored by the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), which had been founded by Khalidi and his wife, Mona, formerly a top English translator for Arafat's press agency...

I sent this to a Jewish woman who replied that Khalidi seemed a respectable professor. She wanted an intellectual as president, not a redneck for vice president.

I despair.

There's conflicting narratives here. Khalidi has taught at very respected schools.. Columbia and now in Chicago or is that backwards?
Said, his mentor is also considered very respected by Hitchens, who's all over the place but certainly mainstream.
However, there is no doubt that not only was Obama there, but he and the Khalidis are friends.. their kids I believe went to school together and they were/are friends in the real world outside of the fake political 'friends' world... btw, so much for not blogging?

Co-blogger Binah was the one who said he's taking a break from blogging.

Khalidi has certainly taught at respectable schools (Columbia now). The thing with him is his radicalism, his relationship with the PLO, his anti-Israelism, anti-semitism and his anti-Americanism. None of that precludes one from a job in academia, unfortunately, but it's at least good that it's radical enough that a presidential candidate has to lie to distance himself from such a person.

Should anyone be surprised that domestic terrorist "William Ayers" would also find a welcoming home in academia?

Forget about Columbia University being a mantle of respectability, at least politically. Under its liberal academic freedom umbrella, anti-semitism is allowed to flourish there:

http://dev.christianpost.com/article/20021121/columbia-university-under-criticism-as-being-anti-semitic.htm

And i say this as someone with three degrees from Columbia.

Obama is not a terrorist. Like the paper said, they already did the story. It's old and stale news. They are trying to breathe life back into it, because it's only one week away from the election.

I'm not interested. I knew about all of this and I early voted for Obama anyway, because he's not a terrorist. I'm an Independent in Nevada and I'm just so glad that I already cast my vote for Obama. He's the best man for the job. I'm tired of people who lie all the time. I don't want an erratic senile old man and Gov. Know Nothing as my leader. They can't lead themselves out of a wet paper bag. They have no plans, no new ideas, no nothing. All they have are lies, attack ads, and insults. We don't need that.

If anyone is at fault, it's law enforcement. The real question is if these people are known terrorists and everyone's so worried all of a sudden, then why are they not locked up? Why are they allowed to run loose and teach at Universities and go to parties? I mean, if they pick up kids at malls for shoplifting and they allow terrorists to teach at our Universities and go to parties, then that has NOTHING to do with Obama. Heck, if they're walking around like a common grandmother on the street, then why would I feel that they are a threat? I wouldn't know, I'd just think they were common folks. On the other hand, if they were locked up, I'd have a reason to fear them. Someone needs to write law enforcement or a judge or someone like that, it has nothing to do with Obama.

Obama/Biden 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The definitive summary of Rashid Khalidi's PLO ties is at:
http://www.iris.org.il/blog/archives/722-Princeton-Censors-Ex-PLO-Speakers;-Likely-to-Hire-PLO-Professor.html

The 1978 NYT quote was on the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashid_Khalidi until Monday, when it was deleted and the page was locked until after the election.

Obama doesn't want the Los Angeles times to release the video tape of Obama praising Khalidi. Palestinian phone banks raised money for Obama. Obama has refused to disclose where about 300 million dollars of his donations have come from. Speculation is that it came from foreign countries. Muslim mosques have raised money for Obama. Obama spent TWENTY YEARS with with Jeremiah Wright's church, which gave a lifetime achievement award to Jew Hater Louis Farrakhan. Every Muslim leader supports Obama. But, in order to get elected, Obama assures American Jews that he supports Israel. I don't trust Obama. And, as the election approaches – and you consider Obama's economic plan ...
remember the wise words of Abraham Lincoln

* You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich.

* You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong .

* You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift.

* You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down.

* You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred.

* You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men's
initiative and independence.

* You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could
and should, do for themselves.

Do you have any quotes belying his anti-semitism?
An LGF post says "reportedly" that Obama said Israel had no g-d given right to occupy Palestine and that Israel had committed a genocide against the Palestinians.... from a source of a blogger Charles links to..
Ironically that would mean he definitely loses Florida... but McCain needs Florida and Pennsylvania, hold on to Virginia and Ohio to win.....
