A shocking story at StandWithUs, by Daphna Ziman (here's a snip):
I have to tell you of an experience I had last night that was so anti semitic and frightening:
Last night I was honored by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, for my work with Children Uniting nations with African American children who are living out of home care. I have dedicated my life to saving these children from abuse, neglect and a life of crime. We created 'adoption day' and "Day of the child" determined to recruit caring adults to be mentors and life savers for our at risk children in the inner cities...
...After I spoke and thanked the fraternity and their members, Rev. Eric Lee, pres. and CEO of Southern Christian Leadership Conference of greater Los Angeles, was introduced as the key note speaker.
He began his speech by thanking Jesus for Obama, who is going to be the leader of the world. He continued by referring to other leaders Like Dr. King,being that this was the moment of celebrating Dr. King's spirit on the anniversary of his death, and Malcolm X.
It was right after the mention of Malcolm X that he looked right at me and started talking about the African American children who are suffering because of the JEWS that have featured them as rapists and murderers. He spoke of a Jewish Rabbi, and then corrected himself to say "What other kind of Rabbis are there, but JEWS". He told how this Rabbi came to him to say that he would like to bring the AA community and the Jewish community together. "NO, NO, NO,!!!!" he shouted into the crowd, we are not going to come together. "The Jews have made money on us in the music business and we are the entertainers, and they are economically enslaving us"
He continued as to how now the salvation has come and the gates have open for African Americans to come together behind Barack Obama, because now is the time to show them.(meaning the jews).
He continued to speak about ' White supremecy' vs the talents and visionaries in the core of African Americans. He demeaned being given freedom, by saying "To what?" to a country that kills women and children.
I could no longer be polite and sit in front of the crowd, so I walked out...

This is fun? I'm getting nervous. It's bad enough that a serious anti-Israel element appears to have attached itself to Senator Obama's coattails, but explicitly antisemitic threats are beginning to surface and it has occurred to me that the Jewish community as a whole might be blamed if Senator Obama ISN'T elected.
I'm worried that, far from "uniting America," some truly awful beasts are starting to crawl back out from under their rocks.
Perhaps it's just as well. I had no idea it was really this bad although I've been tracking left wing antisemitism/antizionism for several years now. That stuff is at least cloaked - usually - in the guise of proPalestinian, anti-imperialist rhetoric - though frequently it sounds EXACTLY like the KKK.
Regardless, I think that this must be urgently addressed and I think there's only one person who can do it effectively and I intend to write to him forthwith. After all his church just gave an award to Louis Farrakhan; maybe it's time to explain why, and why the historically embattled Jewish community shouldn't be really, really worried. I don't think the fact of slavery in pre-Civil War America is gonna suffice this time.
And as far as "economic slavery" is concerned - well have I got news: MOST of us are "economically enslaved" and it isn't to the Jews. It's a sad fact of life that the vast majority of people aren't independently wealthy!
Sorry for the rant - I am seriously freaking out over here - especially since I'm a Democrat:(
Wow. I wrote to Rev Lee's organization to express my diasappointment that someone in a position of moral leadership would make these comments.
With tears in my eyes, I say "wow" and thank you for sharing this. I'm a conservative Christian Zionist Republican on the fence about whether to vote for McCain or Obama and was really close to going with Obama until I read this...the reminder of 20 years listening to Wright and doing nothing about it...I will keep this in mind.
Doesn't surprise in the least. This is what happens when a facile religious fideism attaches itself to an equally facile social/political comprehension and enthusiasm: Wright's, Lee's and similar manifestations.
Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas and various others have provided commentary on this phenomenon.
Take heart though, Smokey Robinson provides some prespective.
They say that repeatedly making the same mistake is an indication not of stupidity but insanity. If this is true then we Jews are very much insane. Repeatedly throwing our resources into every precious cause we can find but our own, and the result is always the same...hatred, anger, anti-semitism. The causes we should support should be those that directly benefit and support our people. Liberal Jews should stop devoting there lives to others who will not love them back. Support your own, no one else will.

There is a disturbing note playing out there, and it's come into sight a few times so far during this campaign -- that somehow, if Obama loses and "The Jews" didn't stand with him, the Black Community will never forgive "The Jews." I've seen it said a number of times, sometimes in not so many words, sometimes just that blatantly, and I think it accounts for some of Obama's Jewish support. Some people are afraid that if "we" don't show him support, it'll be trouble.
We certainly never want to come back to the days when, if one candidate is elected it's good for the Jews, and if another is elected it's bad for the Jews. We want to make sure it's "good for the Jews" no matter what, and I take note of Obama's efforts to go out of his way to say the right things at least with regard to Jews and Israel. Hell, I've probably been easier on Obama here than he deserves for that reason, considering that he -- forget about being black -- is probably the most left-wing candidate to ever get so far.
Of course one does good deeds because they are good, not because one expects some reward, but it should be noted how much the Jewish Community has supported whatever day's Black causes were available and how there are and will continue to be those who scapegoat Jews as a collective regardless. Take note. We should continue to do good, but maybe it's time to take a little extra note of the FIRST part of Hillel's admonition: "If I am not for me, who will be?..."
I'm not really sure how we should evaluate the words of preachers. For example, there's Preacher Manning of Harlem who says:
"Obama is a mac daddy. Obama pimps white women and black women. He got started - you didn't notice him until he brought out those big chested white women with their tight t-shirts and their short pants! That's what a pimp does! Ahhh come on!! You don't get your campaign started with a big chested white woman! She must be a 54 D! Double D! And a pair of shorts on. That's what started his campaign! He put his name on two big 54 D's! Obama!! That's where you first saw his name! That's the first place I saw it, on two great big ol' tits! He's a mac daddy! He pimps white women and black women! Obama is a long-legged mac daddy!"
Preacher Manning has a Ph.D., used to work as a Marketing executive, and has been interviewed by Fox News. The man is (or was) obviously capable of logical thought, but it's not apparent in his present mode.
Given enough time, I could probably dig up crazy and offensive YouTube diatribes in from every faith in every denomination - including atheists, of course. I've heard some really whacked sermons in Unitarian churches that might have been taped. I'm just not sure how this should apply to a political process that is supposed to be based, to some degree, on logic and national self-interest.
Obama is in the lead, and black racists are slamming Bush, America, Italians, Jews.
Doesn't make a difference what Jews do regarding

Will you American Jews ever do the proper research on your Presidential candidates?
Do the right thing, vote for the least anti-semitic person, going by their actions, not words, which are cheap.

If we are going to chastise gangsta rappers, then we have to chastise those that mass market and distrubte gangsta rap. Doug Morris Universal Music Group, Edgar Bronfman Jr. Warner Music Group, Jimmy Iovine Interscope records, Sumner Redstone Viacom account for 98% gangsta rap promotion and distribution. They should be encouraged to stop, before another young life is lost. Imagine if Barry Gordy promoted and distributed records denigrating Jews, what would your reaction would be. You have to imagine because he never did.
I was disappointed to hear that a defense contractor paid 500,000 of our tax dollars to 50 cent to perform at his daughters

See none these rappers own billboards, radio stations, retail record chain, or television stations. The four people I mentioned about run companies, that select, promote, mass market, and distribute to the masses. They must be held accountable. I encourage you to convince them to stop. Had a meeting with the Jewish owners of a station that played gangsta rap. They said freedom of speech. I said what if rapper came out with a song about to Jewish homosexuals from West Hollywood doing each other doggie style would play that. After a long pause they said no. They then agreed to post my concerns to the audience. The audience sided with me, and they cleaned up their playlist.

In response to some of the posts on here, how awful that we can look at this letter, which points out horrible allegations of anti-semitism, and reflect the same hatred and divisiveness that it should teach us to avoid. This really isn't about Obama or about whether to blame jews or blacks for promoting rap. come on! Where there is money to be made there is a lot of selling out to be done, and the only color that matters is green.
I wholeheartedly agree with the brother who said-- do not be one of the people who promotes hatred amongst blacks and jews. There was a time when we were close allies. Today, we have forged some wonderful bonds (like the Anti-Defamation League and NAACP Legal Defense Fund partnership)-- I hope that "divide and conquer" does not prevail. How can it be good for anyone? It hurts me to hear the fear that comes out of people mouths against blacks and jews, depending on the audience.
p.s. I know I said it's not about Obama, but to the brother who said he's choosing McCain over Obama based off of this, you should probably take a look at McCain's spiritual advisor, Hagee. He's equally, if not more explicitly, shocking. I personally think looking at either of their friends is useless in determining who to vote for, but if you disagree might as well have an even scale.
Black people have a history of making GREAT music, enjoyed by the World.
Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Be-Bop, Soul, Reggae and much more are achievements, but cRAP and hip-hop are low-points of Black culture.
