In my ignorant opinion, DeMint made a mistake by trying to defund the Matsui Library. Attacking the nouvelle cuisine school lunches would have gone through, but there's simply no way the Democrats would rescind a personal favor to a colleague.
Mistake, assuming he intended the bill to pass -- if he just intended to put the Democrats in a bind, then it certainly was effective.
