What are the Democrats trying to do here? Play to their far-left base? This is outrageous.

Congressman Pete King (R., NY), the ranking member on the House Homeland Security Committee, sprang quickly into action, concluding that the lawsuits were cheap attempts to intimidate everyday Americans from taking action to help protect our country. Congressman King introduced an amendment to protect passengers and commuters against frivolous lawsuits such as those filed by the imams. The language was overwhelmingly adopted by the House in March, 304-121, as an amendment to H.R. 1401, the Rail and Public Transportation Security Act of 2007...
...I am reliably informed that House Democrats are attempting, under the radar screen, to strip the King Amendment from the legislation based on an alleged technical violation of Byzantine House rules...

Update: The Democrats have killed the effort. Michelle Malkin has a Senate roll call. No surprise, both our Massachusetts disgraces voted against it.

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.
2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.
3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...

I support the King Ammendment and all Americans should do the same. When are we going to understand that the Democrats are intentionally trying to put us all in jeopardy and and even greater tragedy will happen if We the People don't stand up to their "traitorous" actions against this country.
Peter is not named KING for no reason. He is the KING of reason. The KING AMENDMENT should be changed to the KING HOME GUARD Amendment which would provide immunity to all who sign up as HOME GUARD volunteers at their town hall to report any suspicious persons or activities. The HOME GUARD could be established by President Bush by Executive Order. The HOME GUARD was the initial line of defence in Great Britain during WW2 for air raids, sabotage, and invasion. It would take me a heart beat to head to the Town Hall and sign up as a HOME GUARD volunteer. All the best, Bob Hardy.
When Germany invaded France in May 1940, the Prime Minister Anthony Eden called for the establishment of another force to defend the country. They were called the Local Defence Volunteers (LDV) and later became known as the Home Guard. Local Defence Volunteers were male civilians aged between 17 and 65 who had not been conscripted.
Homeland. That bothers me. It sort of reminds me of "fatherland".
Why not NATIONAL?

I hope a Rudy Guliani administration gets Peter King to serve as head of DNS.
