Nat Hentoff: Am I also a bigot? Pols clueless on Ground Zero mosque - 'The angry national debate over Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf's intention to build a mosque two blocks north of the horror of 9/11 at Ground Zero has been further fueled by supporter Nancy Pelosi declaring, "I join those who have called for looking into how ... this opposition to the mosque is being funded." If one of her sleuths knocks on my door, this opponent will readily state that I need no outside funding as a reporter who is deeply investigating the motivation of Imam Rauf's choice of this site of mass murder for the mosque. I will add that, of course, all American Muslims have their First Amendment right to exercise their freedom of religion in their place of worship. There have been other mosques in New York City built without opposition. That freedom is not at stake here...'

Good for Nat Hentoof--Bravo. And I add this: Mayor Blooberg: I proudly join the other bigots.

Yes, Nat, you are a bigot. Cordoba House is not a mosque, although there is one planned inside the community centre. Calling it "Ground Zero Mosque" is not only a misnomer but a hateful lie used by those who want to cloud the issue, like using the N word and then saying blacks use it, too.

Nat was once an esteemed jazz writer; now he is merely an angry old man with a raging case of Islamophobia, the new anti-Semitism. That a Jewish person, especially one of Nat's stature, would - like Abe Foxman - use misleading language to paint a group of people with such an ugly brush is insulting to all people who have suffered at the hands of tyrants.

Jymn, what a lovely collection of smoke-and-oakum you have assembled in one short post. "Islamophobia [is] the new anti-Semitism?" That's unbelievably disingenuous, considering that the Moslem Middle East harbors the most anti-Semitic people in the world! And what is "Islamophobia," anyway? There's nothing irrational about "fearing" those who publicly announce that they intend to kill or enslave you, is there? "Cordoba House is not a mosque, although there will be one in it." Well, if it isn't a mosque, then there is no issue of religious freedom, and the whole thing is a democratic exercise of the freedom of expression. Right? Right!

Thank You for posting this! I love your blog!!

You are wrong. It is a mosque. That's according to Iman Rauf and his wife. Do you say they're liars? There is an ad they ran in Arab media that refers to it as a MOSQUE. They also refer to it as a mosque when they explained why they chose the site near Ground Zero.

By the way, this mosque is supposed to support 1000 people. Not exactly a tiny prayer room as the lying Leftist Islamist sympathizers would have you believe.

Excellent response, OldBull!

The islamofascist swine have changed the name of their project from "Cordoba House" the "Park51".

Just as socialist scum calling themselves "progressive" instead of "leftist".

The heat is getting too hot .
