This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Click the link to visit the full article. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.
Michael Ledeen: We're All Fascists Now II: American Tyranny - '...The economics of the current expansion of state power in America are, as I said, "fascist," but the politics are not. We are not witnessing "American Fascism on the march." Fascism was a war ideology and grew out of the terrible slaughter of the First World War. Fascism hailed the men who fought and prevailed on the battlefield, and wrapped itself in the well-established rhetoric of European nationalism, which does not exist in America and never has. Our liberties are indeed threatened, but by a tyranny of a very different sort...'

It is a neo-Mussolini-styled fascism with a smiley-face facade, updated to au courant sensibilites and passions. The cult of personality or cult of personality-lite surrounding BHO, pervasively in the MSM and elsewhere, is no mere coincidence. It fuses bottom-up with top-down power mongering interests (cf. more principled bases for establishing and maintaining institutional power), e.g., the judicial usurpation of the democratic process combines both top-down juridical fiats with bottom-up special-interest based leveragings in standard Leftist, Alinskian and similar molds. It is also steadily corrosive, rather than dictatorial in the standard sense or usurping in one fell swoop.
As to the Orwellian "Fairness" Doctrine specifically, there is at least one blog specifically devoted to that issue: Unfairness Doctrine. I'm not sure how well it keeps up with all developments since a number of tactics and trial balloons are being floated during this still nascent period, but it does provide some thoughtful considerations.
I know it may be hard to believe.
However, it is absolutely true that Ronald Wilson Reagan committed horrible, racist, hate crimes during his presidency.
A lot of people know about Reagan's infamy.
And a lot of people will know about Reagan's infamy--even until the end of human existence: they'll find out.
Numbers 32:23: "Be sure your sins will find you out."
