This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.

Peter Hoekstra: Islam and Free Speech - '...Radical jihadists are prepared to use violence against individuals to stop them from exercising their free speech rights. In some countries, converting a Muslim to another faith is a crime punishable by death. While Muslim clerics are free to preach and proselytize in the West, some Muslim nations severely restrict or forbid other faiths to do so. In addition, moderate Muslims around the world have been deemed apostates and enemies by radical jihadists...'

killing and protests that burn flags and violant protest are not accseptable.
but there is a link between those protest and the free os speach and opression.
for example an islamic country that is bieng invaded(afganestan, iraq, gaza), then islam is bieng accused of bieng a terrorist reliegon, and a cartoon that humilates prophet ... all these factores together cause people to act in a bad way.

but most muslims who live in uncolonized countries react normally to those insults on the prophet mohammed, because it is not the first insult...many have been published before. and they will be blown by the wind.

Also the prophet once went to talk to a tribe about islam, they threw him with stone and kicked him out till he bleeded.
so two angels came to him saying that if he wanted him to destroy the city the will by god order. but he said no maybe their sons will be better then them.

so we as muslims now that not every insult should be treated with the same insult ...but as i said in the begining there are factores that causes people to respond badly.

Like what i read once in the econimist magazine.
bieng colonized by a damhocratic country is the worst thing that gives rise to terrorists, because it gives credibility to the colonizing country just because its democratic

on the free of speach thing...yes its a good thing and all people support it, but why insult and harm emotions of other people. discuss anything scintifically and without childish propoganda...and we will welcome it.

thats my view and nobody is forced to accept it,

thanx

Comment Info and Policy:

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.

2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.

3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...

4) I welcome you to post here. I'd love to have your input, agree, disagree or just offer a different data point, really. If I didn't want any participation, I'd turn off comments. Be aware, however, that this blog and the comments section exist for my entertainment. Therefore, I reserve ALL RIGHTS here, including the right to remove any or all comments on nothing more than a whim. Please don't even bother complaining. I'm the one providing the space and the free news and thought buffet. I don't owe anyone anything.

Anyone who posts here will be treated as my guest. That means I'm happy to be polite as a default, but if anyone is rude to the host they'll be unceremoniously shown the door.

It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."

5) Enjoy your stay!

"The Greeks imprisoned in the cave of the Cyclops lived there very tranquilly, while they were awaiting their turn to be devoured."

-Rousseau
