"That which does not kill us makes us stronger"

Is it just me or is High European Fantasy becoming more popular? Could this be seen as Europeans turning toward their mythology for comfort and reaffirming their heritage? A precursor to the rebirth of cultural confidence?

Ill note that Legend of the Seeker which is in its 2nd year is based on Terry Goodkind's great Sword of Truth series. HBO is doing GRR Martin's Song of Fire & Ice called Game of Thrones (also the title of one of the books in the series)....even better than Goodkind's work IMO. And SciFi Ch. is doing Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, which started out great but then lost focus and it became obvious that the story was too large to bring back under control. Never the less, I enjoyed most of it.
