A decent little report from CNN about some of the Bedouins serving with pride in the IDF:

Firefox (for me) doesn't seem to like the embed code, so here is the direct link.

Not a bad item, with a few caveats:

She underplays just how many non-Jews - Beduins among them - actually serve in the IDF, especially reserve units. Accounts vary, but there must be a few thousand.

Beduins (and Druse) aren't Palestinians with Israeli papers, and historically, can't stand each other - more recent political "identification" notwithstanding. The reason, as she says Beduins don't have too many problems in their villages with Palestinians, is that there are very few, if any living there.

The St.-Sgt's name is pronounced "Suede," not "Swad."

I served 20 years in the IDF reserves and conscript, with many Beduins and Druse tracker soldiers and officers, and greatly value their service to the country, and unabashed sense of honor and pride.
