Bummer. MEMRI videos have been a mainstay of this blog for a long time. I was going to link to this video of Arab Islamist Clerics to Palestinians: Slaughter the Jews Like You Did in 1929; Blow Yourselves Up in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv when I noticed the video now carries a registration required notice -- and not just the run of the mill free registration, but registration that requires a phone number, has to be reviewed by a real person and may take three business days to process. That's a bit more than I would expect the average reader to be bothered with.

Yes, it looks like the transcript is still available, though nothing hits home like pictures. Of course, it's up to MEMRI to do what they feel they have to do, though it's disappointing since I love to see word get out to the widest possible audience, and that happens only with non-registration required sites, free registration next, and "we want your phone number and will get back to you in three days" registration-required sites last. (I just remembered their YouTube channel, but I don't think they put all the videos on there.)

So...if you see more links to just the transcripts from now on, you know why.

Anyway, don't miss this one (link to transcript):

Following are excerpts from speeches by Arab Islamic leaders expressing solidarity with Gaza, which aired on Al-Manar and Al-Aqsa TV, December 3 and 5, 2008.

Sheik Himam Sa'id, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan: "Oh noble Gaza, raise your head high. You have made the Muslims raise their heads high. And you, people of Hebron - you are now waging a war against the Jews. You are well-versed in this. We saw how, on a day in 1929, you slaughtered the Jews in Hebron. Today, slaughter them on the land of Hebron. Kill them in Palestine. Arise, oh people of Palestine, all the people of Palestine - arise in defense of your Al-Aqsa Mosque, arise in defense of Nablus and Hebron. Arise and face the [PA] Preventive Security forces. Fear them not, for they are rabbits. They are wolves, so fear them not, oh lions...

"Oh young men, what will you say to the Jordanian government? Expel the Jewish ambassador from Amman. Amman is pure, and the Jewish ambassador must not defile its soil. Recall the Jordanian ambassador from Palestine. Only mujahideen should be in Palestine - not ambassadors, not ministers, or any representative of this nation. Do not recognize the ambassador of this nation in Palestine. Palestine is the land of Jihad, of sacrifice, and of preparation. We say to this government: Stop normalization with the Jews. Stop all imports and exports with the Jews. Our markets are full of Jewish vegetables and Jewish fruits. Traders who bring these fruits and vegetables are traitors, collaborators. Tell them this. Make them hear our voice. The position of the religious scholars is that anyone who trades with the Jews is a traitor and collaborator."...

Jewish fruits? Get Queers for Palestine on the case!

Why a registration?

This is an essential tool in the fight agaist islamisation.
All the dead links render all arguments useless when menritv.org was linked to with clear video evidence which had a sudden winning impact.

Why do such a thing?

George Soros funds this daily compilation of mid-east news. Not Memri but at least it's something...

http://www.linktv.org/mosaic

They ask for a phone number but do not require it. (Note no asterisk)

The trouble is that Mosaic basically amounts to Middle East propaganda courtesy of Soros (didn't know he was involved but I'm not surprised). Mosaic normalizes the "news" coming out of the dictatorships. Very dangerous.

The phone number was required when I was registering. They must have figured out that was a bit much.

LINK TV is funded by everyone from the Ford Foundation to Soros . Atlas Shrugs did a takedown of it last year. I like watching it because although you would think it is "normalized" it rarely is. Whoever is running the asylum has a lights on nobody's home problem. Especially when it comes to Gaza. They don't even TRY to be objective. If someone did a MOSIAC watch and called the left on the anti-US news they provide to millions of Americans thru satellite... well, that would be a story.

One thing I noticed recently was that, instead of getting a moving picture, you get a recording with a single picture. Very disappointing. Are they having technical difficulties? Financial difficultiies?

Do you use Firefox? I was getting that effect from Firefox for awhile but they fixed it.

Comment Info and Policy:

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.

2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.

3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...

4) I welcome you to post here. I'd love to have your input, agree, disagree or just offer a different data point, really. If I didn't want any participation, I'd turn off comments. It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."

5) Enjoy your stay!

"What looked like secularization was merely a veneer laid over a society that had been proudly Muslim for over a millenium. Moreover, the ostensible engine of Arab modernization -- Arab nationalism -- was little more than an elevated tribal covenant."
