MEMRI TV: Syrian Actress Amal 'Arafa: Hatred of Israel Is in Our Genes and Blood; No Peace Treaty Will Change That

Following is an interview with Syrian actress Amal 'Arafa, which aired on Al-Hiwar TV [in the UK] on October 4, 2008

Interviewer: If political circumstances change, what will happen?

Amal 'Arafa: Policies may change, but there is something that is already in my genes. We've been brought up to hate Israel. It's in our genes. If Arab countries make political decisions, and there is peace, and so on and so forth... First of all, who would be against peace? I am not against peace.

Interviewer: Of course not.

Amal 'Arafa: But as far as I am concerned, Israel will continue to be a black, dark, and murky spot in my memory, in my genes, and in my blood. Even though I am Syrian and not Palestinian, the Syrian upbringing we received and by which we lived - we've sucked it with the milk of our mothers. There is no playing around with this, it's in our genes, and we will pass this down for many more generations.

Oh yeah, let's give them the Golan Heights.

A Palestinian state, if one is created, will last 3 months, tops, before being overrun by or merged with Hamas/Hezb etc. If Lebanon can't hold up, how on earth is Palestine supposed to?

The Golan will become a shooting gallery as soon as Assad's lease on power/life comes due, as rivals for power seek to build political capital for themselves. Or does anyone suppose that rivals for power in Syria will distinguish themselves by their economic plans?

Seems obvious.

We need to elect a playwright for president. The flaws in making peace under current circumstances simply aren't apparent to people who don't have a gut level understanding of how stories unfold.

Sol, your comment says it all. Even to have the Golan on the table is suicidal. Doesn't anyone in Israel today have the memories of shelling of the kibbutzim? A shell here and there simply lobbed down from the heights was all it took to drive the members down into the shelters.

God help Israel...again, because, sure as sh*t they ain't gonna do it for themselves.

Soulless, matter of fact, endemic, visceral hatred, inculcated from the earliest years and throughout their society and institutions, reminiscent of Eva Braun types. This too is reflective of why Iraq represented a beachhead and an absolutely necessary initiative.
