The two-year-old child whose shoe this was lost both legs yesterday is recovering[?]. Initial reports were that she had died in the hospital, but I understand she is still living, though she has a serious internal head injury.

1) You must have Javascript enabled in your browser in order to comment (blame the spammers). If you don't know what that is, you're probably fine.
2) HTML is on, so basic html should work. Raw links will be made auto-clickable, too, so even if you don't know html you can just paste in the link and it should work fine. Keep the "http://" in it.
3) Comments are generally unmoderated, which means I don't necessarily agree with the tone and tenor of everything posted. In fact, sometimes people post things they don't really mean just to make other people look bad. The internet is an anonymous place for the most part. That said...
4) I welcome you to post here. I'd love to have your input, agree, disagree or just offer a different data point, really. If I didn't want any participation, I'd turn off comments. It may pay to recall a famous line from the Tom Selleck magnum opus, Mr. Baseball: "Jack-san, you want Yoji's advice about the babes, you come to Yoji with respect."

YNet reports that a toddler wounded in the attack regained consciousness today. His mother was told that the toddler only suffered a broken leg, because the mother herself is in serious condition and, presumably, doctors fear for her health if she is told.
This is a demonstration of how vitally important it is for citizens to be involved in shaping and, where appropriate, chastising their own government. It can literally be a matter of life and death.
This is strange. I am checking more sources. My source was quite confident about the injuries, but I see Haaretz also reports that the injuries weren't so bad...what is the truth here? And why would the papers be reporting less than the truth of the injury?
I believe Barak invited Rice to visit the Mall with him, but .....
Meanwhile Defense Minister Ehud Barak briefed US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the attack, and asked if she would be interested in accompanying him to Ashkelon to survey the damage. Rice has yet to respond to the offer.
Now she can sympathize with the Palestinians once more looking for comparisons to her suffering in the South.
I think your sources were correct. The mother was deliberately not told the truth because of fears for her health.
