I don't think he's a professor anymore (or is he?), but that's not stopping Ward Churchill from giving a lecture at UC Davis on the very important scholarly issue of the nexus between Jewish nationalism, American expansion and ... what else? ... Nazism: Zionism, Manifest Destiny, and Nazi Lebensraumpolitik: Three Variations on a Common Theme. Brought to you by none other than Students for Peace & Justice, Students for Justice in Palestine and the Muslim Student Association.

Where would pseudo-scholars be without "Jews and Americans = Nazis" to talk about? It never gets old.

[h/t:Adam Holland. Update: Holland has more with a good background summary on Churchill.]

Even when one changes their cage, leopards do not change their spots.

Before her literary career really took off, Margaret Atwood, a very successful Canadian novelist, taught a university English course that my ex-husband was lucky enough to take during his brief academic career.

The gem of wisdom he took from Maggie was that "writers write to make money". If pseudo-scholars didn't have Jews and America to denegrate, they'd find someone else, but as Bernard Lewis said, Jews = news, so that's why it just keeps perpetuating, mutating only very slightly since the original blood libel.

I presume he feels like a prsecuted Jew in Nazi Germany in 1939. Why isn't he trying to escape to one of those countries where there are no Jews or Americans, so he can feel safe from Nazi persecution, like Iran, or Syria?

What I mean to ask is: what kind of minds are guzzling up these fantasies?
