I'm just amazed that these Google satellite images can do things like help find an avaitor lost in Nevada.

Another good site is http://maps.live.com.

There you can see maps and photos, and sometimes street names superimposed on photos, which can be a great help. Also, you're not limited to seeing just the tops of buildings. You can see quite a bit of the sides, too, from north, south, east and west.

The only problem is that not all areas around the world have been photographed, so in many places there are only maps. Still, where they do have the photos, the effect is tremendous.

I was mistaken. It seems that "Map of Strange" does also have map and hybrid options [although the hybrid isn't comprehensive]. The only two things that bother me is that you can only see the scenes from straight above, so you see a lot of tops of buildings. Also, there are those annoying "create marker" boxes that pop up. But, regardless, this is a fascinating site.
